Shrine of St. Jude Photo

Today's reflection
Here is a little exercise to help us to be relaxed and alert at the same time. Observe something that tends to unite you with God; a picture, a crucifix, or a flower perhaps. Relax and let your eyes rest on it for awhile. Let go of all sense of time and just be with it. A wonderful meditation.

Why do people pray to saints?
We believe that the saints are our senior sisters and brothers who faced the same challenges we do and now stand before the Throne of God. We ask the saints to pray with and for us – to join with us in praying for God’s help.

St. Jude, patron saint
of the impossible

St. Jude Thaddeus was one of the twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus Christ. Because he has the same name as the traitor, people were slow to ask his help. He didn’t mind being left in the shadows – and now is the special patron of all who feel left in the shadows. At our Shrine we ask him to help all in special need.

    About us
LogoThe Dominican Friars, the Province of St. Albert the Great, are Roman Catholic priests and brothers. We are part of the global "Order of Preachers," the Dominican Family of priests, brothers, sisters, nuns and lay people, who live and pray today in a holy tradition that dates back to time of St. Dominic, the thirteenth century.

Our mission is to communicate the Word of God through preaching, theological education, and the promotion of justice and peace. This mission in the Body of Christ demands a vowed community life, liturgical prayer and life-long study.
