  The awesome power of prayer

Today's reflection
Even if we could call all powers our own, we should consider ourselves beggars standing outside the gates of Heaven and, holding out our hands, asking for God's Grace as if we were begging for alms; for Grace makes us the children of God.

Meister Eckhart, O.P.

What God can do...
We prayed the St. Jude Novena, lit candles, and anointed our dear friend, Monte, 41 years old with St. Jude's oil, that she would be healed of stage IV Lyposarcoma: the rarest and deadliest of all cancers. Her cancer had invaded 6 organs, and her surgeons gave her about a 10% chance of surviving surgery. Without surgery, she had 2 to 4 weeks to live. "Monte" lived through her surgery, though she lost her left kidney and spleen, parts of her pancreas, stomach, colon, and diaphragm. A 30 pound cancerous tumor was also removed. She was then beset by a serious host of complications and infections. Six weeks later she has made significant progress in her recovery, and is expected to return home in a week or so. Her doctors stated that no one has ever survived such a serious cancer for this long, and that they consider her a miracle. Our deepest thanks to God and the intercession of St. Jude for prayers answered.
